LUBBOCK HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1952 |
We
would enjoy having as many of your class of 1953
join us if they wish. We are meeting May 11 and 12,
2012, because of the LISD recognition of the State
Football Teams on the evening of May 12.
If you or any of your classmates have any questions,
please call me at
806-795-1829, or write me at 4405 Ninth Street,
Lubbock, TX 79416, or email
OurayFan@AOL.com.
I do not know when John Dudley will get the
invitations out to the athletes about the banquet.
It will be at the Merket Center at Tech and is late
afternoon on the 12th and the banquet following.
Bill Dean said it will be business dress. Our events
are true West Texas dress--some business casual and
the others dressing as they want to, ha/ha.
Thank you for sharing this with your class; and if
you know of any 1954 Westerners that want to join
us, please tell them to notify me.
Any of my committee members can help with
information: Billy and Joan Sims, Carl Brown, Berwyn
Tisdel, O.C. Madden, Ramona McLaughlin, Quatha
Baker, Peggy Edmonson, Ann Duval, Mary McCowan, Mary
and Benny Short, Charlie Wright, James Bell.
Looking forward to seeing some of the Class of 1953
join us.

1951 and 1952 State football teams will be
honored by LISD at a late afternoon reception
with a banquet following. This will give many
classmates an opportunity to have private
gatherings with some of close friends. |
SUNDAY, MAY 13TH, 2012 |
Should
you be able to stay in town until Sunday, you
may want to attend your former church (many are
still having worship in the exact same place as
in 1952).
If you would like to join Quatha
Power Baker, Charlie and Sue Wright, and the
Northingtons, we will be at the Downtown Bible
Class (the one your dad probably attended). This
class meets in the former First Presbyterian
Church on 14th Street in the 1500 block. It is
inter-denominational and singles and couples are
welcome. Quatha is the present president (first
woman president of Downtown Bible Class) and
Charlie Wright will be our president beginning
the first Sunday in May. It meets at 9:00 AM for
coffee, rolls, and fellowship; singing of
favorite hymns at 9:30; and the KFYO radio
station broadcast our lesson beginning at 9:45
AM. We are through by 10:15. |
HOTEL/MOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS |
The
reunion committee did not select a central
place. Lubbock has several motel chains and a
new hotel (Overton Hotel 806 776 7000). Many
motels are on Loop 289, the mall area, and
around Texas Tech. |
ACTIVITIES
AROUND TOWN |
If you have not visited the
following, you may want to visit one or more
Saturday afternoon:
Veterans Memorial
National Ranching Heritage Museum on TTU campus Southwest
Collection on Texas Tech
University campus
Silent Wings Museum
American Wind Power Center (East Broadway across from
Mackenzie Park), great windmill
collection
New construction around town has certainly
changed the landmarks of Lubbock. Some areas are
improved and some of our “ole” landmarks were
difficult to see go. |
